These black and white photographs were taken in 2003 and 2007.The photographs reflect a premonition (and fear) of death. Five Wounds was shown in Markuskyrkan, Stockholm, in 2004. I had been very moved by Cimabue’s crucifixion in San Domenico, Arezzo. In my photograph the five wounds are symbolised by five oak leaves.

Following Five wounds I took a series of photographs of myself, wrapped or partially wrapped in a semitransparent cloth. Again these photographs bring to mind a shroud, a cocoon, life below the surface, the closeness of life and death. These, together with Five Wounds will form a group. In the large format photograph Waiting Sorrows burnt pieces of bark seem almost to be figures gathered around a grave.
