Signs of Life

My current project, Signs of Life, is based at present on two series of photographs – "Ice on a Forest Pool" and "By the Barents Sea".

Ice on a Forest Pool

The first series – Ice on a Forest Pool – was taken during the last week of 2015 and the first weeks of 2016. I followed the freezing of a forest pool.

By the Barents Sea

The second series was taken during a 10 day trip to Varanagerhalvøn, northern Norway in June 2016. A barren, stone-covered plateau drops abruptly into the Barents Sea. High Arctic plants grow alongside maritime plants on the sea shore. Guillemots, Razorbills, Kittiwakes and Sea Eagles breed on the cliffs. On a return trip in early June 2017 I photographed small willow shrubs in flower, seaweed and gnarled birches.
